MICRONEEDLING BEFORE AND AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Micro Needling is a safe, natural, holistic alternative for resurfacing the skin using microneedles to produce optimal results. There may be some pinpoint bleeding and mild discomfort during the treatment which is temporary. Topical anesthetic cream may be used if needed for tolerance.

Treatment objectives:

  • Helps to build collagen

  • Smoothes fine lines and may help fill in pitting or areas lacking structure

  • Smoothes acne scars

  • Stimulates growth factors

Post Treatment Instructions:

  • Do not take any antiinflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.

  • Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness

  • Use a clean pillow case for 3 nights following your treatment

  • Clean all your makeup brushes, glasses, or anything that will touch your face

  • Eat fresh pineapple to optimize healing

  • May use cool compresses for discomfort, burning, redness, or swelling

  • May use mineral makeup after 24 hours

The Healing Process: What to Expect After a Microneedling Treatment

Day 1-3

A sunburn-like effect is normal. Your skin may feel tight, dry or sensitive to touch. You may also experience some stinging. The redness should be greatly reduced within 24-48 hours. In some cases, clients may experience slight bruising that can last for 5-7 days and temporary swelling for 2-4 days.

  • USE ONLY GENTLE, HYDRATING PRODUCTS FOR THE FIRST FOUR DAYS. Make sure to wash your face with cool water and gently pat your skin dry. Avoid sun exposure for 3 days and if possible 10 days. Mineral based sunscreen with SPF of 30 should be applied and reapplied every 60 -90 minutes while outdoors.

  • Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating as well as jacuzzis, saunas, and steam baths for up to 48 hours.

  • Drink plenty of water

  • To ensure the proper healing environment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula),exfoliating scrubs or anything perceived as “active” skincare for one week post treatment.

  • Mechanical exfoliation devices (Clarisonic, etc.) should also be discontinued for at least 7 days post treatment

  • In the short term, lines can appear worse for the first few days after a treatment due to transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Any wrinkle that develops quickly is not due to loss of structural integrity and is temporary.

Day 2-7

Peeling may start 3-5 days after the treatment. You’ll notice skin dryness and flaking which is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. DO NOT pick, scratch, or scrub at treated skin!

Important information: You must allow the old skin to flake off naturally and keep it moisturized at all times. Talk to your skin specialist about which products to use.

Day 5-7

You may start your regular skin care products again, once your skin no longer feels irritated. For best results: We recommend follow-up and repeat microneedling treatments every 4-6 weeks, with a series of 3-5 treatments depending on your personalized care plan.
